Greetings to all Access experts
I have a field name Voucher Type that may contain
1) CPV
2)CRV
3)BPV
4)BRV
5)JrV
Now if the voucher type has CPV then my current voucher number field should count the previous occurences of CPV in voucher type column field and return CPV occurances and add 1 to it so that I may get the next voucher number dynamically for diffirent voucher types. I hope I am understood. If not I will further explain
Best Regards
Imran Bhatti

That is fantastic exactly what im after - i now have to apply this to
some sort of keyword search. ie. to find the records that contain the
greatest number of instances of a certain set of keywords.
i should be able to adapt this - thank-you

Hi shukla,
Thanks for your immediate response.
I would like count the values in Column B by using the Date criteria which is in Column A.

Try
F2=COUNTIFS($B:$B,$E2) and drag down

Thanks again.
I have tried that formula also but it won't work. because formal doesn't contain the Column A reference criteria.

The formula given to you is wrong. It should be this:
=COUNTIFS($B:$B,,$A:$A,$E2)
